Are you confident in accurately reporting cryptocurrency earnings on your tax returns?

How do I report my BitBargain taxes?

You can report your BitBargain taxes by importing your historical Bitcoin trade data into CoinTracker. Even though BitBargain has shut down, CoinTracker allows you to recreate your trade history from bank records and blockchain data, calculate your capital gains and income, and generate HMRC-ready reports for your crypto tax filing.

How do I connect my BitBargain account to CoinTracker?

To add your BitBargain transactions to CoinTracker:

  1. Download the CSV export of your transactions from BitBargain

  2. Reformat those transactions into our CoinTracker CSV format (see our support guide here)

  3. Import your CSV export to CoinTracker here

How are BitBargain transactions taxed?

All cryptocurrency trades conducted on BitBargain are taxable under UK law.

  • Capital gains tax (CGT): Applies when you sell or swap Bitcoin for GBP or another crypto. The taxable gain equals the difference between your acquisition cost (cost basis) and disposal value.

  • Income tax: Applies if you received Bitcoin as payment for goods/services or earned affiliate rewards from BitBargain. The BTC's fair market value at the time received counts as income.

CoinTracker calculates your CGT and income automatically by combining your trade data, on-chain transactions, and GBP-denominated bank records.

Do I have to pay taxes on BitBargain?

Yes.

HMRC requires you to report all crypto disposals, including peer-to-peer Bitcoin trades like those made through BitBargain. You must declare:

  • Sales of BTC for GBP

  • Swaps of BTC for other crypto

  • Bitcoin received as income or commission

CoinTracker helps you reconstruct your BitBargain trading activity so you can accurately calculate and report your capital gains, even if you no longer have direct platform access.

Does BitBargain provide tax documents?

No.

BitBargain did not issue tax documents such as account statements or HMRC capital gains summaries before ceasing operations.

However, you can reconstruct your history using:

  • Old email confirmations of trades

  • Bank statements showing GBP transfers to/from BitBargain traders

  • Blockchain explorers (e.g., BTCScan) to trace your BTC wallet addresses

Once recovered, upload this data to CoinTracker to automatically calculate your taxes.

How to get your BitBargain tax documents

  • Search your email for "BitBargain trade confirmation" or "BitBargain BTC sale."

  • Review your bank statements for corresponding GBP deposits or withdrawals.

  • Use a blockchain explorer (like blockchain.com/explorer) to match wallet transactions to these records.

  • Export or record the transaction details (date, amount, and BTC price).

  • In CoinTracker, go to Add Account → Manual Entry → Add Transactions.

  • Enter your reconstructed trade history to automatically calculate your capital gains and income.

When did BitBargain issue tax forms?

Never.

BitBargain was a peer-to-peer Bitcoin marketplace, not a regulated exchange, and did not issue Form 1099, HMRC CGT statements, or ATO tax forms.

Users are responsible for self-reporting all crypto transactions.

CoinTracker creates compliant HMRC Capital Gains and Income Summaries ready for your annual tax submission.

Why aren't my BitBargain records accurate?

Your reports may appear incomplete if:

  • You didn't keep copies of your trade confirmations or bank receipts.

  • You used multiple BTC wallets for peer-to-peer transactions.

  • Some transactions were made off-platform and never logged.

CoinTracker helps reconstruct missing trades using on-chain data, bank transactions, and market price history, ensuring your tax report is as complete and audit-ready as possible.

Does BitBargain automatically deduct taxes?

No.

BitBargain did not collect, withhold, or remit taxes.

All profits, sales, and income from trading Bitcoin on BitBargain must be self-reported.

CoinTracker automates this by producing your gain/loss and income summaries for HMRC or any other jurisdiction.

Does BitBargain report to tax authorities?

No.

BitBargain did not share user data with HMRC or other tax agencies.

However, HMRC can still trace Bitcoin transactions via blockchain analytics.

CoinTracker ensures your reporting aligns with your verified wallet and bank data for full transparency and compliance.

Does BitBargain provide financial or end-of-year statements?

No.

The platform closed without providing annual summaries.

You can, however, create equivalent records in CoinTracker by uploading reconstructed data from emails, wallets, and bank statements.
